Clarificaion regarding Hunting Block Island, R.I.

Bow hunting season begins October 14,2014. Those who are Block Island (Residents) and have a valid R.I.hunting license will be paid $150 for each deer tail.
 The Shotgun and Muzzleloader commences on Nov. 3rd through Feb.17,2015 No hunting on holidays or weekends.

 The October 11th edition of the Block Island Times mistakenly reported that all those with a valid R.I. hunting license were eligible to the payment

 The herd has got to be culled by 800 from the estimated 1,000 Virginia Whitetail herd. The smaller whitetail were introduced to the island in 1967. One buck and three does and left unchecked with no natural predators and vehicle traffic the herd has become a big problem with native vegetation and has enabled invasive species of vegetation to take a firm hold. The seasonal waterfowl hunting at Sachem Pond has defeated with 30 people attending the town meeting. Each Canadian goose generates 3.5 to 4.5 pounds of by products a day and it creates a huge weed problem on the lake.
