Fall Tautog Season opens in Conn. Oct. 10th

Tautog  (Blackfish) season opens tomorrow, Oct.10th in CT. waters.
Blackfish are prized by marine anglers for their fighting ability and the delicious fillets they provide.
The blackfish are bottom dwellers, so try fishing around structures, boat wrecks, drop offs ,jetties or rockpiles. Kayak jig fishing for them is becoming popular and saves tackle. Chumming will also increase your success rate. Clam necks and clam worms will work but will also attract bait stealers. Green Crabs, Asian Crabs and Hermit Crabs are the better choice for a bigger Whitechin.Heavy medium to a Heavy rated rod with strong line for pulling them out of the rocks and keep that rod up. 4 per day in the Nutmeg State @ 16 inch. Let us know about your experience @ waynewnri@yahoo.com for a live report on the radio broadcast. Fish Recipes are also welcome for cooking your favorite way with the Tautog, Wayne
